Robinsons Residences unveils a model unit at The Sapphire Bloc designed with the lives of today’s career-oriented individuals in mind. This is the latest residential project of the developer in Ortigas Center.

The entire development itself, The Sapphire Bloc, was particularly designed for active professionals whose careers require a home that is in sync with their dynamic lifestyle. It offers well-designed living spaces, which affords comfort and ease of movement. Furthermore, its location allows its residents to experience the convenience of living near their places of work so they can pursue their jobs without sacrificing a lot of personal time.

Y Diseño Interior principal designer Cecile Narvaez was tapped to execute The Sapphire Bloc’s aspirational home interior that appeals to career-driven individuals in their late 20s to early 30s.

With extensive experience gained from a wide spectrum of corporate and individual clients, Narvaez brings to life an ultimate sanctuary for the modern professional.

She envisioned the units’ prospective inhabitant as someone with refined tastes and an eye on the corporate ladder.

“He or she is a sophisticated professional who is tied up with work and the chaos of the corporate world.  But he or she is very busy, thus the unit should be free from frills and hard-to-maintain interior items,” she described.

Narvaez chose a selection of elements from the Art Deco style, which is also the central theme of The Sapphire Bloc. Gilt mirrors are ubiquitous accessories during the period so these are present in various rooms of the unit.

“The play of mirrors made the interiors look bigger than its actual size,” she added.

Art Deco is also typified by bold, geometric patterns and these were exercised through various aspects of the unit’s interior: wall paper patterns on a feature wall, ornaments, lighting fixtures, headboard and even the fabric of the pillow.   Narvaez said these add character to the modern interiors.

“However, patterns must be applied lightly so as not to make the small unit look over decorated,” she cautioned.

She employed neutral, subdued tones as color motif, with a smattering of yellow gold and bronze for accent, as seen on the bed linens, throw pillow and dining chair upholstery. The overall effect is toned down Art Deco that retained its elegance but seamlessly meshed with functionality.

With busy, sophisticated men and women in mind, “interior scheme should be easy to maintain. It should require minimal upkeep for those with a hectic lifestyle,” she said.

For those who will venture into other decorating options, Narvaez has this advice: “Do not be afraid to use a bright accent as this adds more character to a unit.”

She also stressed the merits of simple elegance by being prudent with the number of colors to blend and accessories to incorporate. The fewer the accessories, the less clutter there will be, which in turn minimizes the stress of maintenance.

The Sapphire Bloc upholds Robinsons Residences’ mantra of city living done right by offering a perfect live-work-play lifestyle with its efficiently-designed spacious units bearing an enviable address.
